A very special exhibit, “The benefits of the LIRR on agriculture on Long Island.”  This detailed history exhibit has been mounted by students of the Southold Junior-Senior High School who volunteer at the school’s Farmer’s Market in Greenport during the season.  It shows how the Long island Rail Road from the 1880’s through the 1970’s played an important part in expanding and strengthening the agricultural industry on Long Island, particularly the East End.
